AAEN Consulting Engineers A/S

AAEN Consulting Engineers A/S (AAEN) provides specialized services within climate change mitigation, renewable energy technology and environmental management projects. Our portfolio includes both traditional engineering services that are the basis for all planning and construction projects and specialized services that are based on our longstanding experience in alternative energy and project abroad.

All our activities are conducted under the auspices of our joint vision:

“To Pioneer the improvement of our climate and to work for a visionary utilization of our energy resources”.

AAEN is active on the carbon credit marked and has been so for the last 7 years. Our scope of activities includes a variety of roles in reference to climate projects both as project developer (PIN, PDD, LOI, LOA etc.), project manager (Administration, Monitoring and Recording) and project hosting (Emission Reduction Purchase Agreement, Direct Payment Agreement, carbon credit transfer, etc.). As such we can encompass all activities related to the establishment, administration and successful accomplishment of climate projects.

CDM Project(s)

Activity 1
Landfill Gas Extraction & Utilization Poland (JI)
The project includes a current total of 14 different Landfill sites situated in the northern and eastern part of Poland. The project encompasses the establishment and expansion of Landfill Gas Extraction and Utilization plants and delivers green electricity to some 10,000 Polish households. The estimated accumulated emission reduction total 660.000 ton CO2e.

Activity 2
Expasion and Development of Geothermal Energy Poland Zakopane (JI)
Zakopane is located in the southern part of Poland at the base of the mountain range that encompasses the Tatry National Park. The town is a very popular tourist destination annually receiving some 3 million visitors. Managing such a huge influx people will normally put a very large strain on the town’s energy infrastructure resulting in server air pollution problems. Zakopane is however situated on a very large geothermal reservoir. Building on this resource the JI project is assisting the expansion of the geothermal plant and the district heating network and is currently aiming at increasing the geothermal capacity on Zakopane through the establishment of a geothermal Combined Heat and Power plant.

Activity 3
Landfill Gas Extraction Test Bishkek Kyrgyzstan (CDM)
This project deals with the installation of a landfill gas utilization plant at the landfill site in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Bishkek is the capital of Kyrgyzstan with 1 million inhabitants and the landfill site is the only mean of waste disposal for the city. A landfill gas test pumping station was installed, at the landfill site and data was collected to gauge the possibility of installing a full scale landfill gas utilization plant. Due to institutional issues (a revolution deposing the government) the project is currently on hold.

Activity 4
Biogas Utilization for Poldanor Poland (JI)
The project aims degassing the slurry produces by thousands of pigs and piglets in a group of pig farms located in the northern part of Poland. Traditionally slurry from pig farms has been degassed in open lagoons, resulting in massive GHG emissions to the atmosphere. The project includes the establishment of a total of 16 Biogas Plants with Gas Engine Combustion in connection to the pig farms, which will produce some 50.000 MWh green electricity annually. The project will also produce organic fertilizer to replace chemical fertilizer products and have a very large impact on reducing nuisances from odors. Currently 7 plants have been build and is in operation (2011).
