Alternative Energy Promotion Center

Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) is a semi-autonomous government institution under the Ministry of Population and Environment, Nepal, established with the objective of developing and promoting renewable/alternative energy technologies in Nepal. From July 16, 2012, AEPC is executing a five years National Rural and Renewable Energy Programme (NRREP) which has a single programme modality. AEPC is further committed to develop a well diversified portfolio of carbon projects using different instruments. AEPC succeeded in developing and registering five Clean Development Mechanism Project Activities (Four Project activities related to household level biogas technology and one Micro-hydro Technology) and three CDM Program of Activities-PoA (Improved Water Mills Technology, Household Biogas Technology and Improved Cook-stoves Technology). Being the projects implemented in least developed country, the project activities and PoAs, apart from reducing GHG emissions from baseline offer additional sustainable benefits to the users.
