Biomass to Energy - 10 MW

Host Country
Brazil, Goiás
Expected amount of annual CERs (metric tonnes CO2 equivalent per annum)
24,535
Project participants
2 triple A USA Companies NDA Required for discluser
Description
The project aims electric power generation through biomass burned in high pressure boilers connected to turbine and electric generator in Goias, Brazil. One similar project developed by Greenvest with 5 MW of power outcome is actually under construction in Itumbiara, Goiás.

The project aims, first, generate renewable energy using agriculture straw which is a renewable raw material available locally, abundant, safe and low cost, and eliminate agricultural leftovers that can create disease and contamination in rural areas.

One source of biomass are local agribusiness industries that will feed the project for 10 years with 40.000 tons of biomass (50%). In addition, more than 50 agricultural producers, that total more than 2 thousand hectares, are able to supply elephant grass (biomass). Another source is the remains of traditional agricultural production as sugar cane leaves and bagass, eventually Eucalyptus, which will complement (200% availability) the demand of biomass from the generation of 10 MW of power from renewable raw material.

Summary
Total Investment / Equity - US$ ~25 MM / R$ 2,5 MM
IRR Project / Equity - 14.86% / 39.91% p.y.

NPV US$ (x 1,000) - 180,090

OBS: Sensitivity analyses shows that raw material and investment variation of 30% do not reduce IRR to less than 37% per year.
