Presently, less priviledged households in Africa use hurricane lanterns powered by kerosine and low burning fuels to light their homes. The soothe including CO2 emmitted is a lot and a source of GHGs and health hazards for residents.
This project targets to replace these hurricane lamps with solar lamps tht ligt up the households for upto 7-8 hours. We target 200,000 households whose mothers are petty traders and produce hand-woven natural dyed cloth in their spare time.
These lamps will assist the children get a better education because they have bright light to do their home-work and can help out in household chores.
These households will not get electricity in the next ten years because road access to their villages is almost absent.
