Central Eléctrica de Biomasa Forestal “La Melvis”

El proyecto propuesto consiste en la construcción de una Central Eléctrica (CE)
de 3 MW que estará ubicada en la Región de La Melvis en la Isla de la
Juventud y utilizará como combustible, residuos forestales procedentes del
manejo de bosques y plantaciones energéticas. La energía eléctrica generada
por la CE se suministrará al Sistema Eléctrico del municipio especial.
El esquema tecnológico de la CE contempla la gasificación en lecho fijo de los
residuos forestales para producir gas pobre, mediante gasificadores
comerciales de madera, el cual es suministrado a un motor de combustión
interna que emplea dicho gas como combustible. Antes de su incorporación al
motor, el gas debe someterse a un proceso de refrigeración, limpieza y
posterior secado a fin de aumentar su densidad y eliminar las impurezas y la
humedad del mismo.
