Sameer's Environment Conservation Project through Boiler Fuel Switch to Biomass

The project implements renewable energy technology that displaces technology using fossil fuels in a dairy factory.
The dairy factory in Kampala runs with 3 steam boilers of appr. 14 t steam/hour total capacity. The fuel used is furnace oil with a consumption of 160t furnace oil per month for 9 months of the year and 60t furnace oil per month for 3 months of the year. Those boilers will be replaced by 2 boilers of 8 t steam/hour total capacity which use biomass as fuel. The alternative scenario would be using the existing furnace oil boilers for the steam needed. Therefore, the installation of the boilers avoids the use of furnace oil to generate steam energy.

The methodology "Renewable energy projects: Thermal energy for the user"(AMS-I.C.) is applicable. The total capacity of the project does not exceed 15 MW. Therefore, the simplified baseline is the fuel consumption of the technologies that would have been used in the absence of the project activity times an emission factor for the fossil fuel displaced.
The estimate of the annual emission reductions is 5000 tCERs.
