HOW TO USE THE UNFCCC CDM BAZAAR
The UNFCCC CDM Bazaar is a Web-based facility which serves as a platform for
exchange of information on Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project
opportunities. Through the UNFCCC CDM Bazaar, various market players can
exchange information, contacts and learn about market developments.
Market players can upload User Profiles for other Users to view. They can
also upload information of specific projects or make notices of Certified
Emissions Reductions (CERs) for sale. Finally, Users can cam publish
announcements on the UNFCCC CDM Bazaar.
How to find way in the UNFCCC CDM Bazaar
The UNFCCC CDM Bazaar has three main market corners: The Seller section, the
Buyer section and the Service provider Section.
- The Seller section
shows seller profiles and the projects which have been added. In this
section you can view seller entries and find projects at various stages
from project ideas through issued CERs for sale.
- The Buyer section
shows profiles of buyers. In this section you can view buyer entries and
purchasing profiles of buyers in the carbon market.
- The Service provider
section shows profiles of companies who offer carbon market technologies
and services.
In addition to the three market corners, there is an announcement area.
This section shows announcements which are not related to transactions or
project development. Three types of announcements can be found in this section:
Employment opportunities; Events; and Publications. All announcements are
strictly related to the carbon market.
Users who wish to add profiles, project information or announcements to the
UNFCCC CDM Bazaar are required to sign up.
Users can sign up as one or more of the following User categories:
- Sign
up as a Seller if you are a seller of CDM projects, CERs or if you are
have a CDM Project Idea and you wish to find partners.
- Sign
up as a Buyer if you wish to buy CERs from CDM projects or if you wish
to have sellers contact you.
- Sign
up as a Service provider if you wish to offer services or technological
solutions to the carbon market.
- Sign
up as Others only if you do not fit into one or more of the categories
above but wish to make announcements on the UNFCCC CDM Bazaar. If you
only wish to look through the UNFCCC CDM Bazaar this does not require
registration.
All registered Users can create announcements on the site, but only Users
which have registered as Sellers can upload CDM project information, project
ideas or CER notices. If your organization fits more than one category,
please make additional registrations to add the profiles (no more than one
profile per User category).
After your have completed your registration form, the UNFCCC CDM Bazaar will
process your information and send you an email as soon as your User profile
is ready.
How to add project information to UNFCCC CDM Bazaar
To be able to upload project information to the UNFCCC CDM Bazaar, Users are
required to sign up as Sellers. Once a Seller profile is registered (and the
User has been notified that the profile is online), the User can add project
information to the UNFCCC CDM Bazaar.
Sellers can upload information within four project categories:
- CDM
Project Ideas: This category is for projects which are still at the
idea stage and not yet a statutory part of the CDM process. Such CDM
Project Ideas can be uploaded in order to get in contact with partners
such as developers, financiers or service providers. Project Ideas can
be uploaded to the UNFCCC CDM Bazaar when they are developed to the
stage that they at least have the potential to become Project Ideas
Notes, which are preliminary CDM feasibility studies often produced to
facilitate host country approval and/or financing of a project.
- CDM
Projects: This is for CDM Projects which have become part of the CDM
registration process by the CDM executive board. Projects belong to
this category from the time when they have been sent to validation or
are further in the process, including projects which are registered
and/or CERs have been issued.
- Primary
Market CERs: This category is for notices of Certified Emissions
Reductions which does not relate to one whole CDM Project, but the
first transaction of CERs related to a a share of a CDM Project or
several different CDM projects. Thus a Primary Market CER notice on the
CDM Bazaar can imply a pool of CERs from a certain share of a CDM
Project or from several CDM projects.
- Secondary
Market CERs: This category is for the second transaction or trading of
CERs related to CDM projects. Secondary Market CER notices on the
UNFCCC CDM Bazaar can be traded as a pool of CERs from a certain share
of a CDM Project or from several CDM projects.
When a Seller has signed up and is logged in, an Editing Overview Page
will appear. From this page a Seller can choose to upload projects or
announcements. Step-by-Step guides will help the Seller through the process.
How to add announcements to UNFCCC CDM Bazaar
To be able to upload project information to the CDM Bazaar, Users are
required to sign up. All registered Users (Sellers, Buyers, Service providers
and Others) have access to upload of announcements. Once a User profile is
registered the User can add project information to the UNFCCC CDM Bazaar from
the Editing Overview Page. To gain access to this page the User must be
logged in.
Three types of announcements, which are strictly related to the carbon
market, can be uploaded by registered Users:
- Employment
opportunities
- Events
- Publications.
The UNFCCC CDM Bazaar is a User-driven website. This implies that Users
regularly should update information and add new information to the site. When
projects change status, Users are urged to update the information on the
UNFCCC CDM Bazaar as well. If, for instance, a CDM Project changes status
from requesting registration to being successfully registered by the CDM
Executive Board the project should be edited via the Editing Overview Page.
Or, for instance, a CDM Project Idea has become mature and is submitted for
validation to the CDM Executive Board, the CDM Project Idea should be
deactivated from the UNFCCC CDM Bazaar and a CDM Project should be added.
Once a registered User is logged in to the UNFCCC CDM Bazaar, the Editing
Overview Page appears. From this page all information uploaded by the User can
be edited.
From the Editing Overview Page, Sellers can:
- Upload
new CDM Project Ideas, CDM Projects, Primary Market CERs and Secondary
Market CERs
- Upload
new announcements (Employment opportunities, Events and Publications)
- Edit
the User profile and the information which appears on the CDM Bazaar
- Edit

From the Editing Overview Page, Buyers, Service providers and
Others can:
- Upload
new announcements (Employment opportunities, Events and Publications)
- Edit
the User profile and the information which appears on the CDM Bazaar

the Users’ existing announcements.
When a User logs in to the UNFCCC CDM Bazaar she/he is directed to the
Editing Overview Page. Here, projects and announcements can be deactivated by
the User (as well as edited). When a project or announcement becomes
inactive, it does not appear on the pages of the UNFCCC CDM Bazaar, but it
will still appear when users search for keywords which it contains. This way,
CDM Bazaar has a history of information. If a project needs to be deleted altogether,
click here to send an Email. Please
